Whew.
First steps. First day of kindergarten. First time riding a bike. First sleepover….
As parents, we give everything we’ve got to set the groundwork for our children, and be their leaders. And the hardest part? Letting our kids succeed or fail on their own.
It is hard to let go, but it’s also the ultimate act of love and trust.
Even when our fear tells us to step in at every moment to keep them safe, to protect them from pain, or hold onto the version of them that needs us for everything…
We must give them space to grow and become their own person. Watching them make mistakes is painful to watch (especially when we see it coming), but each time we do it– our kids are empowered.
Remember this balance, and don’t be afraid to let go. Watch their potential and confidence soar.
